Marineland Joins our AZA Accredited Habitats

Marineland opened its doors in 1938 as the first Oceanarium in the world and, since then, we have focused on providing our guests with an educational experience to admire and interact with different species. For this reason, we are proud to share with you that we received accreditation from the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) because we have the highest quality standards in animal welfare.

The AZA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to zoo and aquarium innovation in the areas of conservation, education, science and recreation for nearly 100 years. AZA-accredited zoos and aquariums must have the highest standards of animal care and welfare and provide a fun, safe and an educational family experience.

Marineland participated in the Pathway Toward Membership program to apply for AZA accreditation with the help of a consultant. Of the 25 facilities that participated in the program, we were the first to receive this accreditation. The Dolphin Company has a total of four accredited habitats: Dolphin Discovery in Cozumel and Isla Mujeres, Mexico; Dolphin Discovery Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic; and Marineland in Florida, USA.

Achieving AZA accreditation is a testimony to the professionals who work with us and dedicate their lives to the wonderful animals in our family, to the conservation of habitats and species in the wild. Being part of an international group of accredited zoos and aquariums drives us to be better every day.
