Marineland: 84 Years of History

Today, our multi-experience park Marineland in St. Augustine, United States, celebrates its 84th anniversary. It opened its doors in 1938 to become the world’s first oceanarium and represents the birth of groundbreaking discoveries in human-dolphin interaction, as well as research on species in human care and in the wild.

In the beginning, Marineland was a film studio in which scenes from movies such as “The Monster from the Black Lagoon” and more recently, “Bernie the Dolphin” were recorded. Today, the thousands of visitors to this wonderful park can interact with bottlenose dolphins and witness educational talks about various species, such as turtles, dolphins and sharks.

Marineland has been part of The Dolphin Company since 2019 and since then it has done nothing but contribute positive things to our family, such as love and dedication to animals and the environment.

Marineland has international certifications that corroborate various aspects of the welfare of the species in its care: Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA), International Association of Marine Mammal Trainers (IMATA), American Humane Certified (AHC) and Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Without a doubt, Marineland is a place where children, adolescents and adults can attend to live a unique experience and learn valuable and necessary information for the preservation of species and their environment.
