Gulf World Rehabilitated and Reintroduced Firework the Sea Turtle to its Habitat

The Gulf World Marine Institute, at our Gulf World park in Florida, rehabilitated and reintroduced a Sea Turtle named “Firework” that had been accidentally caught in a fishing net.

On June 30th, a fisherman alerted the authorities about a Sea Turtle that had been trapped in his net. Our team of Specialists and Veterinarians took care of her and rehabilitated her.

Firework was treated and several hooks were removed from different parts of her body. After spending a few days under the care of the medical team, the Turtle is now recovered and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission authorized her return to the sea, which happened today.

Gulf World thanks all the people who participated in its rescue and release and keeps encouraging the community to keep informing themselves about the actions we can carry out collectively to protect the species.
