Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo June 8, 2019. – Within the framework of World Ocean Day, Dolphin Group, with its program ‘Dolphins Saving Oceans’, celebrated this day with the cleaning of the beach located in Portal Maya, where 90 kilos of garbage were collected.
More than 100 volunteers attended to the cleaning from the Solidarity DIF, the Technological University, the UNID and the Dolphin Group’s habitats such as Maroma, Dreams Puerto Aventuras, Puerto Aventuras and Akumal.
“Our goal is to remind the population of the important role played by the oceans in our lives, we invite all interested parties to join in reducing the use of plastics and materials that are harmful to marine species and the environment that surrounds them,” commented Paula Lomán, Coordinator of Environmental Education of Grupo Dolphin.
The oceans produce 50% of the air that is breathed, they are a source of biological food resources, they are the habitat of a great variety of living beings and they regulate the climate, since they absorb the excess heat of the planet; For this and more reasons, Grupo Dolphin seeks to raise awareness about the indiscriminate use of harmful products for species and the planet.
