Great News! Gulf World Marine Institute Reintroduces Two Sea Turtles to the Gulf of Mexico

We are thrilled to announce that Gulf World Marine Institute (GWMI) will release two Sea Turtles back into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 8:30 AM CT at Inlet Beach, Florida.

“Sea Pork,” a Green Sea Turtle, was rescued near Panama City Marina, treated for buoyancy issues, injuries, and epibiota, and has recovered from fibropapillomatosis. “Ram Bam,” a Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle, was rescued after being entangled in fishing gear and treated for fibropapillomatosis, with a successful recovery.

We thank all those involved in the rescues, including the Panama City Beach Turtle Watch and lifeguards. Both Turtles are now cleared for release by our veterinary staff and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

If you encounter stranded marine life, please report it to the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission at 1-888-404-3922 or #FWC.
