Cancún, Quintana Roo, February 28, 2019. – In the last couple of days, the annual meeting of the Alliance of Marine Mammals and Aquariums (AMMPA) took place in Washington D.C, where Dolphin Discovery Costa Maya received a recertification emitted by this international association that represents the parks, aquariums, zoos, research centers and organizations where marine fauna lives.
In 2014, Dolphin Discovery Costa Maya received the Alliance certification for the first time after being subject of the strict norms of the AMMPA: The habitat provided the right documents to demonstrate its compliance with the norms, including the origin records of legal precedence of the marine mammals, the medical analysis records, the detailed plans and programs that are being carried out for the training of the staff, customers, and the community that surrounds the habitat, as well as delivering evidences of the continuous scientific research.
5 years later, the habitat got a recertification after having being visited by the inspectors of the Alliance, who confirmed that the quality standards in marine mammal care are met, also, they confirmed that the premises had the appropriate size, they analyzed the quality of the water and checked the safety measures for clients, animals, and the staff members.
Currently, Grupo Dolphin has 23 certified habitats by this Association, turning into the only Mexican company with more certified habitats.
