Cancun, Quintana Roo 19th of November, 2019.- During a press conference, Dolphin Discovery announced that ”The Dolphin Race” will be held in Cancun for its 2020 edition. In this 25 year Edition, this event will be part of the celebration of Dolphin Discovery’s 25th anniversary. This race with a special cause will take place on Sunday, March 22nd, 2020 at 7:00 am on grounds of the Country Club which will also be characterized as a pet-friendly event.
The maximum capacity of participants on this year’s Dolphin Race will be 700 runners, divided into the following categories:
- 400 meters – Minor child (under 9 years of age).
- 1K – Child (9-14 years of age).
- 2.5K – Walk (18 years or older).
- 5K – Juvenile (15 – 18 years of age), Open (19 – 39 years of age) y Masters (40 years of age or older).
- 10K – Open (19 – 39 years of age), Masters (40 – 49 years of age) y Veterans (50 years or older)
The first three places in each category (except walking) will receive prizes in goods. Also, all participants will be entered in a raffle where they can win passes for tours, dinners, day passes, hotel stays and more. The cost of registering for the race during a special pre-sale (from today until January 31st, 2020) will be $270 MXN for adults and $220 MXN for children. The cost of sale (as of January 31st and until March 21st, 2020) will be $300 MXN for adults and $250 MXN for children. As a special incentive, groups of 5 runners or more will pay the child’s price instead of adult (prices vary according to the date of purchase i.e. presale or sale).
Participants will receive a runner’s kit, which includes a commemorative t-shirt for the event, competitor number, timer with a chip (which will be given to competitors of adult categories, not minors or walking categories), route and finish supply and a medal. The Dolphin Race medals will be collectible, this special 2020 edition will be in the form of the letter “D”, to incentivize participants to join future races and collect all the letters to the word DOLPHIN, becoming a set of commemorative medals.
