Cancun, Quintana Roo on October 25th, 2023.- The Dolphin Company, park operator with global presence, announced that the Zootechnician Veterinarian Roberto Sánchez Okrucky, Veterinary Medicine Advisor at its corporate offices, was honored with the Amy Camacho 2023 Wildlife Conservation Award, during the annual congress of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums of Mexico A.C. (AZCARM) for his outstanding career in the care and conservation of various animals.
AZCARM is an association with nearly 40 years of experience, and it brings together zoos, aquariums, specialists and wildlife enthusiasts with the aim of creating a synergy to enhance the operation of its member institutions in achieving their goals related to research, environmental education, and conservation.
During the AZCARM annual meeting, held in recent days in Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Dr. Roberto Sánchez Okrucky, who has been a part of The Dolphin Company family for over 25 years, was recognized for his contributions to the well-being of species in its care. He has also played a crucial role in the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of various species, both marine and terrestrial.
“It fills us with satisfaction that Dr. Sánchez Okrucky has been recognized with this important award, which, without a doubt, he deserves and which denotes his passion for animals. Roberto is a person full of knowledge and vast experience, who has contributed to the well-being of many animals in human care and in the wild. We are proud that he is part of our family and, above all, very grateful to him for taking care of our species for so long”, said Alfonso Delgado del Olmo, Executive Director at The Dolphin Company.
Since he was young, Dr. Roberto Sánchez has shown his calling for the dignified treatment of animals. Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work with sheep, horses, dolphins, sea lions, manatees, turtles, sharks, whales, and various types of birds. He has shared his experience and research with apprentices from many different schools and universities, aiming to raise awareness among future generations about animal conservation.
