We are proud to announce that after successfully rehabilitating a turtle that was accidentally hooked by a fishing hook, Gulf World Marine Institute returned the turtle today to Inlet Beach in the company of the specialists who helped with its recovery and several beachgoers who witnessed the moment.
During the weeks that the turtle was at the institute, the specialists were in charge of removing the 3 hooks that were in its body, two in its mouth and one in its colon, cared for it until it was eating and swimming properly, so the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission authorized its return.
Gulf World thanks the rescuers of this sea turtle, including the fisherman, and all those involved in its rescue and rehabilitation. If you see a stranded or dead dolphin, whale or sea turtle, report it immediately to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission at 1-888-404-3922 or #FWC on your cell phone.
