Punta Cana, The Dominican Republic, April 11, 2024.- Within the framework of World Autism Day, Dolphin Discovery Punta Cana, a member of The Dolphin Company family, a park operator with a global presence, welcomed more than 20 people from the Center for Training and Inclusion of Children with Diverse Abilities (CENHAD, for its acronym in Spanish) to its facilities to carry out the activity “Autism and dolphins”.
CENHAD is a non-profit organization dedicated to working with children by providing therapy in different areas to promote their development. It also provides workshops and valuable information to relatives of minors with autism to help them understand this disability and teach them how they can help them have a better quality of life.
During their visit, the children and their families had the opportunity to interact educationally with dolphins, many of them for the first time. In addition, they had a great time at the Pirate Island water park. They participated in a dynamic in which the children could capture autism and dolphins with their own hands through art, demonstrating how these two can coexist without any barrier.
“Welcoming these types of organizations helps us raise awareness in our community about the capabilities of people with autism. For us, it is essential that people are empathetic towards those who have this disability so that they understand them and learn to relate to them so that they integrate correctly into society and do not suffer any discrimination. Furthermore, it is very satisfying to see the reaction of the boys and girls when meeting a dolphin for the first time; we are sure that it is something that excites them and impacts their lives positively,” said Jesús Sánchez, General Manager of Dolphin Discovery Punta Cana.
For several years now, Dolphin Discovery Punta Cana has free of charge received children from CENHAD and the Autism Without Borders Foundation, opening a special schedule for them every Saturday so they can interact with the wonderful dolphins that live there, learn from them and have fun enjoying the water park and its amenities.
