Today, the Marine Fauna Rehabilitation Center (CRFM) of Aquarium Mar del Plata in Argentina, reintegrated ten Magellanic Penguins that two months ago arrived from different beaches in Mar del Plata and surrounding areas.
The state in which the penguins were found was malnourished, some with severe parasites and others contaminated by hydrocarbons, which had to be specially treated with medication and specific management by our professional Specialists and Veterinarians.
The Magellanic Penguins (Spheniscus magellanicus) are habitual inhabitants of the coasts of Mar del Plata at this time, only when they present a health problem they can be seen on the beaches out of the water.
We appreciate the dedication and passion for wildlife with which our biologists, veterinarians and technical team attend to this type of case of stranding of penguins and other species that can be seen presenting an anomaly in their health status.
