Recently, our Zoomarine park cared for a 20-year-old turtle that had been stranded on the coast of Lazio in serious health, and after almost a month of rehabilitation at its facilities, it was able to be successfully reintegrated into the wild.
The turtle of the Caretta Caretta species had difficulty swimming and feeding due to the plastic waste it had ingested in the sea, so during its stay at the ‘Centro Pronto Soccorso Tartarughe’ in Zoomarine, it received a series of medicines and special attention by the Specialists and Veterinarians of the park. And once recovered, it was reintegrated into its habitat aboard a Guardia di Finanza ship.
The Zoomarine recovery center is the first and only operational first aid center since 2015 in the Lazio region, the expert biologists and veterinarians who work there have contributed to the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of various species of marine life.
